What is the Lalita Generosity Badge?

The Generosity Badge is a profile signal based on verified charitable donations made through Lalita’s Donation Center. Rather than asking users to self-declare that they are generous, Lalita can display a cumulative amount based on confirmed donation transactions.

When a user chooses to display the badge, other people can see the cumulative verified donation amount on their profile while browsing and before a match or conversation.

How the Donation Center works

1. Choose a charity.
   Use Lalita’s Donation Center to browse charities and select a cause you want to support.
2. Make your donation.
   The donation is processed through the integrated Pledge charity infrastructure.
3. Pledge verifies the transaction.
   The confirmed donation information is returned to Lalita after successful processing.
4. Your cumulative total is updated.
   The verified amount is added to your total charitable giving through Lalita.
5. Your display preference controls visibility.
   If you have chosen to show the generosity information, the cumulative amount appears on your profile. If you turn it off, it is not displayed.

Why does Lalita show the total in USD?

Users may donate in different currencies. Lalita converts confirmed donation amounts into USD for the cumulative profile total so that the displayed number has one consistent currency across users and donations.

The result is a simple profile signal such as a cumulative dollar amount rather than a collection of separate currency balances.

You control whether the generosity amount is visible

Not everyone wants their charitable giving displayed publicly. Lalita therefore lets users turn the generosity display off.

This means the Generosity Badge is not a requirement for participating in Lalita. It is a user-controlled profile signal.

Does Lalita take money from your donation?

No. Lalita does not take money from the charitable donation. The donation is made to the charity through the Donation Center and Pledge integration, and Lalita uses the confirmed transaction information to update the user's cumulative giving signal.

Lalita itself is also free to use. There is no premium subscription required to use the Donation Center or the core dating features.

What does a Generosity Badge actually tell you?

It tells you something specific: the person has made verified charitable donations through Lalita’s Donation Center, and the displayed cumulative amount reflects those confirmed donations.

It does not prove that someone is kind in every situation, that they are a better partner, or that they have a particular personality. Those are much larger questions that no single badge can answer.
